Awkwafina

American musician and actor Awkwafina made her debut with humorous songs that dealt with sexuality and racial identities with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before expanding her reach into Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Koreans living in Forest Hills Queens. Her first experience with music came from the trumpet. Her classical, jazz and hip-hop training began as she was in her teens. While in college, she focused on her studies. She took up a degree in women's studies as well as journalism. For a brief period of time, in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were offered as well. Her focus shifted towards music after she completed her degree. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an online hit, and it was featured in her debut LP Yellow Ranger. The album also contained were other viral hits including Queef (body-positive) as well as NYC Bitche$1. The single that debuted was directly connected to the album Awkwafinas NYC, her travel guide for 2015. Her resume included both author and musician. She was now looking for a new career path in acting. Alongside early TV shows like Girl Code and Tawk she was also in films such as Neighbors 2, Storks as well as Bad Rap. Her breakout role was in Dude Ocean's 8 as well as Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
