Maureen FitzSimons's achievements when she was a teenager in America (which we refer to as Maureen O'Hara today) would be a sure signification for her to the child-prodigy category. It was an innate trait for a girl from Irish heritage, that was surrounded during her early years by talented relatives and parents. Maureen arrived in this nurturing sanctuary on August 17th, 1920. She was raised by the family of her parents. Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons was her mother. She was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland, and also ran a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons placed 2nd in the household of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off the gorgeous family. Maureen excelled as a sportswoman and was a gruelling athlete in games as a child. This interest was combined with the natural ability to perform. The fact that she was awarded nearly all Feis awards for her native country's drama and theatre performances was a testament to this. At the age of 14, she was accepted to the highly acclaimed Abbey Theater and pursued her dreams of classical theatre as well as operatic vocals.
